(08/09/05) Completion of Acquisition

GTL Resources plc announces today that it has completed the acquisition of a controlling interest in Illinois River Energy LLC in order to build an ethanol plant at Rochelle, Illinois. The plant will produce 50 million gallons of ethanol per annum. Construction of the plant will begin next Monday, 12 September 2005. It is expected that the first ethanol will be produced in Q4 2006.
